I’m Dennis McCarthy, and my role as Chief Information Officer is to ensure that team members and families have the ability to generate the information they need when and where they need it, to provide the best possible care for our residents. One of my goals is to see SRI Management become a “go-to” source for information, direction and foresight for the senior living industry.
I opted to join the Air Force out of high school, leaving behind a basketball scholarship. A hospital job led to an opportunity to pursue my interest in computers and information / technology, and I leveraged my management skills and my customer service focus to a rising career in IS. By the time we started Superior Residences, the precursor to SRI Management, my role had risen to the Senior Management level and I filled the title of CIO. At no point have I worked for a “computer company”, so my job has always been one of support and service to the main function of the business; first in hospitals, where that function was taking care of patients, and now in senior living, taking care of our residents.
I am a certified SQL DBA, and at one point held a fellowship in the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, CHIME. Over the course of almost 20 years, I have studied at 7 different schools in various fields… Diet and Nutrition, Engineering, Accounting, and in the end settled on a Business Degree with a Minor in Literature.
It’s exciting to me to see our industry become one of great importance to future generations. I think we’ve finally turned the corner on being viewed as a ‘nursing home’, and are now becoming perceived as a lifestyle for seniors.
“Being able to interact with residents and families on their devices, in the manner in which they are most comfortable, will have a tremendous impact on the lives of our residents, and how we’re viewed as a company.”
