Janet Albert Gets Recognized as Local Hero

People working in senior living often are not publicly recognized beyond the community walls and residents they serve.

That changed for one SRI Management team member on a warm July Thursday night.

Janet Albert was surprised, to say the least when asked to come step to the stage to accept an award recognizing local community heroes. She thought she was at the event for a colleague, not knowing her name was to be boomed out to the masses.

But her name was called, and this July 29 night belonged to Janet.

“We’re so proud of Janet,” SRI Management’s Chief Operations Officer Shelley Kaiser said. “Janet is truly one of the best, and we at SRI Management know how great she is, and it’s wonderful to have others outside of our circle recognize that as well.”

Each Thursday night from early June to mid-August, Harborwalk Village in Destin hosts the Red, White, and Blue Hero Celebration. During each celebration, there is the presentation of the colors, a World War II airshow, recognition of  a local hero and other entertainment.

The night was capped off with fireworks in full display over Destin Harbor.
